Welcome to the OPC!
The twentieth century has witnessed the progressive rejection of authority including the rejection of the authority of God's Holy Word, the Bible. The Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC) has throughout its history taken its stand against such rebellion. We believe that the Bible is inspired of God and without error in its teaching. The Bible thus is for us the authoritative revelation of God, the only infallible rule for faith and conduct. We believe that the Bible alone gives us truth concerning God, concerning man, and concerning what God requires of man. We believe that the Bible makes plain that Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, suffered and died on the cross to pay the penalty for the sins of his people, that he is the only hope for the redemption of sinners, the hope for those only who by the grace of God believe in him and his redemptive work upon the cross. We invite you to come join with us in the worship of our God and our Redeemer. We invite you to experience for yourself the wonderful transformation of life that yielding and embracing the teaching of God's Word in Christ can bring. We also invite you to peruse the contents of this website. Investigate the churches displayed on its pages, and see for yourself the wonderful difference to be found in the churches of the OPC. Our Subordinate StandardsThe Bible is the only standard of faith and practice for the OPC. Since its inception in 1936, however, the OPC has adopted the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Westminster Larger and Shorter Catechisms as its subordinate standards. That is, these documents present a systematic summary of what we believe the Bible, our standard, teaches. While one need not adopt these subordonate standards in their entirety for membership in the OPC, the requirement for membership being a credible profession of faith, all ordained ministers, elders, and deacons in the church must affirm these subordinate standards "as containing the system of doctrine taught in the Holy Scriptures." In this way the OPC insures a unity of preaching and teaching in all of its churches. |
